4th of July is this weekend, but even better, “Hamilton” comes out on Disney+ on July 3. This is the perfect weekend for a red, white and blue event. Today, I’m sharing my red, white and blue charcuterie board and tips for how you can make one too.
For my board, I used:
- Triangle Triscuits
- Watermelon (I bought a mini watermelon and sliced it)
- Red, White and Blue Veggie stars and stripes
- Spinach artichoke dip
- Mozzarella balls
- Blue corn chips
Not pictured because Kroger was out during my Kroger pick-up.
- Cherry tomatoes
- Prosciutto and mozzarella roll ups
If you are going to make your own red, white and blue charcuterie board for the weekend, here are a few tips!
Don’t use too much blue. There aren’t a lot of natural blue foods. Now I’m not saying that blue corn chips and veggie straws are natural, but don’t go overboard on the blue. Focus on reds and whites.
Vary your shades. Try for an ombre effect. Use bright fruits, muted meats and even some shades of orange.
Don’t be afraid of green. Even though this is a red, white and blue board, don’t be afraid to add a little green. I added the spinach artichoke dip which is green and white and basil. Think about different herbs you can add to sprinkle in a little green.
Fill in with smaller fruits. When adding the larger focal items of the board, you will get some holes. Fill these in with blueberries and raspberries.
Alternate colors. Don’t let too much white sit together or it will make the board look bland. Same with red because it’s too bright so that’s where the eye will immediately go.
Don’t be afraid to pile it on. No worries about piling it high. Bring it on, your guests will love it.
Are you having a red, white and blue event this weekend? Also, are you watching “Hamilton?”
