Why I Chug Spearmint Tea

Why I Chug Spearmint Tea

Earlier this week I posted a YouTube video of my favorite things from the month of March. One of the things I mentioned was spearmint tea.

Spearmint has a ton of great benefits that we’ll get into in a minute, but the reason I started drinking spearmint tea was purely vain. I was very lucky growing up that I didn’t have acne. A bump here and there, but no consistent acne. As a teenager, I really really really lucked out.

However, in the past eight or nine months or so, I’ve started getting breakouts on my chin. Nowhere else, just my chin specifically. I did some research and figured out that chin breakouts are caused by two things: stress and a hormonal imbalance.

Am I stressed? Oh, only when I’m breathing. Actually my chin was completely clear taking time off work at Christmas. The 2nd day I was back in the office I started breaking out again. Additionally, at my last doctor appointment I had to switch the brand of my birth control prescription. I’m no doctor, but both of those things combined did not work well with my face.

Guess what helps with both stress and hormonal imbalances? If you don’t guess spearmint, you’re bad at this game.

I was complaining about my chin to a friend and she recommended spearmint tea. So I started drinking a cup at night. I can’t get it together in the morning to do anything other than sticking a Lean Cuisine in my bag and swiping a coat of mascara. I like drinking my tea at night though!

Again no doctor or expert, but I can tell a difference! I’ve noticed that my chin breakouts have significantly decreased. The amount of breakouts are minimal and it’s helped with scarring. Combining spearmint tea with my other skin care products have really made a difference. I’m a fan!

I purchased this brand. You can buy it on Amazon and it comes in packs of 1, 3, or 6. I really like tea, so I think this brand tastes really good too. I look forward to my night time tea.

Spearmint has so many other benefits too. I’m not claiming any of these, but here are some of the things that spearmint has been said to do.

Additional spearmint benefits:

  • Relieves indigestion, nausea, vomiting and gas
  • High in antioxidants
  • May aid in hormone imbalance
  • Could help reduce facial hair in women
  • May improve memory
  • Helps fight bacterial infections
  • May lower blood sugar
  • Helps reduce stress
  • May improve arthritis
  • May help lower blood sugar

Do you drink spearmint tea? Have you noticed any of it’s benefits?

This is great to know! I also often break out just on my chin, and just this morning I was looking in the mirror and noticing that it’s been a lot worse the past couple of days.

I am slowly trying to get myself to drink less coffee, and hopefully introduce more teas into my life because of the health benefits. I’ll be sure to add this to my list! Thank you for sharing the awesomeness of spearmint tea 🙂

How cool that spearmint is so good for breakouts. I love the taste of mint teas, especially when I’m not feeling well. I’ll have to try this one!

I’ve never heard that spearmint tea could help with hormonal imbalances and acne. I’ve tried just about every acne remedy in the books because – unlike you – I’ve never had clear skin in my life. I gotta try this!

I definitely notice more acne when I’m stressed and also when I’m about to start my period. I’ve never heard of drinking spearmint tea for this reason, but it seems like it has a lot of other benefits too! Maybe it’s time to give it a try 🙂

I wasn’t aware of all of these benefits. That’s great you have seen an improvement in acne. I love drinking tea in the evenings as well to help me relax before bed.

I love spearmint tea and have a cup every day, either during afternoon tea or at night. I grow spearmint too for fresh spearmint tea during the summer. It’s definitely a favorite! I love that it’s so high in antioxidants and it helps me keep inflammation down in my body. Great for the digestive system too!

I love tea! I’ve had spearmint tea before but never with much consistency. I’ll have to try it to see if I notice any benefits.
