So a few weeks ago amidst all the junk “Dear Sir or Madam” emails I get, I received a fun email from Brittany announcing that she and Lindsay were hosting a cookie exchange today. I have an unhealthy love of Christmas. I just want to do holiday things the whole month of December. In fact, if I am watching, listening, or eating anything that isn’t Christmas related during December, I feel like I’m cheating on Christmas. Needless to say, I was pumped for the cookie exchange.
I found some cute recipes on Pinterest, picked these adorable peppermint and sugar candy canes below, then I found the Betty Crocker box mix equivalent, because let’s face it…I have trouble in the kitchen. I’m 100% whatever is the opposite of a domestic goddess. I really shouldn’t be allowed to have a blog.
Nailed it…I hate Pinterest for giving me unrealistic goals of what I can create.
So regardless of this hot mess, they tasted incredible. So we’re going to pretend they look like the first picture.
So here is the recipe I found on Pinterest.
But here is the box I actually used.
The recipe is easy if you use a box. Just need a half stick of butter for each color and a tablespoon of water. In my opinion…use less butter.
Mix your dough in two separate bowls.
Put some flour on your hands and roll and twist your candy canes or fun swirl cookies, and bake for however long it says on the box.
I’m going back to my ways of buying baked goods at the store and plating them to look like I made it. (Side story…one time I had to make cupcakes for a bake sale, so I bought a package at Kroger on my way to the sale. I arranged them on a fun plate on the trunk of my car and added sprinkles and walked inside totally pretending that I made them.)
I’m a mess. Blogger privileges revoked. I do love making cookies at Christmas though…no matter how ugly. So link up with Lindsay and Brittany and share your favorite recipes.
