Happppppy Monday! I’m trying to keep it positive, but really, I mean, it’s Monday.
Anyways, today we’re talking about something I find SUPER important: collagen.
Most women’s bodies quit producing collagen by age 28. Like on your 28th birthday it’s like “surprise…no more collagen for you.” But by that point production has already been slowing for awhile. And we need collagen. That’s the protein that keeps us looking young and fresh, it helps hold our joints and tendons together, and keeps our bones and muscles healthy.
Let me put it really simple vain terms: no collagen means sagging skin, wrinkles, and creaky joints. No me gusta!
So what am I doing to combat this travesty? I drink collagen.
I add a scoop of the Vital Proteins Beauty Collagen to my drink in the morning and one at night. I’ll be totally honest with you, I do not like the taste at all, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the benefits, so while the package says mix with water…I mix with tea. I think it could also be delicious in a smoothie, and I have a friend who puts it in ice cream. I would put it with basically anything but water because you just can’t hide that taste.
However, when mixed with delicious and complimentary tasting things, it’s all good! I like the strawberry lemon flavor because there are lots of complimentary flavors. I am using a zero calorie Arnold Palmer tea right now (because it’s leftover from the Masters.) But I think it could be added to my hot mint tea, green tea, fruity smoothies, anything.
I’m also OBSESSED with the packaging. It’s so chic and cute. Who doesn’t love a Barbie pink jar of collagen??
It just looks cute on Instagram, you know what I’m saying?
Anyways, I try to break my two scoops up. I do one scoop in the morning and one in the afternoon or at night. I have been drinking it for awhile and I just love the benefits. Between adding my collagen and REALLY upcoming my skin care routine, I’ve noticed night and day differences in my skin and my body.
I have seriously creaky joints when I climb the stairs or walk around or stand up or just like, ya know..live. But my collagen has made a difference in the snap, crackle, pop that is my body. So I have firm, plump, healthy skin AND healthy joints. Like all the yaaaasss!
I also love the travel packets. Not everyone wants to take a jar of collagen in the carry-on, but the travel packets are perfect for your purse, book bag, tote, clutch, whatever! Hubbs and I are going to Disney World at the end of the month, and these little packets are totally coming with me. My second favorite flavor is the melon mint. Again, great in mint tea.
No matter how you take it, collagen is extremely important and should be consumed early and often!
Do you collagen? (Can I make this a verb? I think so.) If so, what’s your favorite way to take it.
