Tijuana Garage

Ok, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I discovered this restaurant about a month ago, and have been here three times already… It’s that good. If you come to Atlanta, you HAVE to put it on your list. It’s called Tijuana Garage and it’s Mexican…ish. It’s definitely more in the Tex-Mex category because they play 90’s music instead of mariachi bands.

So it’s located in Little 5 Points and the atmosphere is awesome. Atlanta in November is still hanging out in the 70 to low 80-degree range, so it’s perfect patio weather. Let me tell you, Tijuana Garage has the best patio, complete with colored lights and a fountain. I love it because there are so many different people in Little 5 so everyone fits in.

So I could go and just drink a pitcher of their Magic Bus Margarita and eat their queso and salsa, but it is a crime to skip on the tacos. More on that soon. The queso is so thick and cheesy my mouth is watering just typing this sentence. Also, the salsa is a little sweeter which I love. I don’t like tomatoes, but I completely love their salsa. PRO TIP: Dip the chip in queso and then in the salsa for double the cheesy delicious goodness. So amazing.
Ok, I got lost in a queso day-dream, but I’m back.
So after you gorge yourself with queso and salsa, you have to try some tacos. My personal favorites are the Philly Crunch and the Fried Chicken Club taco. The Philly Crunch is a flour tortilla wrapped around a hard shell with grilled Philly steak, more of the amazing queso, sauteed peppers and onions. It’s like a Philly Cheesesteak with a Mexican flare. Then the Fried Chicken Club is fried chicken, apple-wood bacon, lettuce, pico de gallo, and chipotle mayo. It has a little kick, but it is incredible. If you order two or more tacos you get a side of rice and beans which I highly recommend.
Stephen changes his meals up, but one of his favorites is the BBQ Braised Beef Burrito which has braised beef, queso, caramelized onions, rice, yellow barbecue sauce and sour cream.
So on top of the food being downright delicious, they also have live music, trivia, AND a rewards app so regulars like us can save money after stuffing ourselves full of tacos. Tijuana Garage is incredibly affordable, which is part of the reason we go so often. Bonus: because we have to pay for parking in Little 5, if you park in the lot to the side of the restaurant and give your parking receipt with your bill they take it off your total.
I have nothing bad to say about this incredible place, except for that they don’t have an apartment on top for me to move in and eat tacos three times a day.
Check them out next time you’re in Atlanta or on social media!
Do you have a favorite taco in your city?
